Nandi Governor Cleophas Lagat has defended a host of incomplete projects initiated by his government amid allegations that the developments are being implemented at a snail’s pace.

Mr Lagat cited legal roadblocks and logistical challenges as the major reasons that have led to delays in the completion of the flagship infrastructural projects.

“For the case of the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Kapsabet town which is now at its second phase of construction, we had to fight legal battles with individuals who had encroached on the part of the land,” he spoke in Kapsabet town.

He said the project which will give local athletes a state-of-the-art environment for training has also been delayed because of financial challenges.

“I will not be defending my seat but I call upon whoever will succeed me to ensure that this project is completed to ensure it serves the noble cause which we had planned for,” said Governor Lagat.

He said his government needs to be credited for putting up an enabling business environment that has seen new forms of business developments come up after the onset of devolution.
