Microsoft trains business women on technology

Over 70 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) owners have benefited from a Microsoft training aimed at increasing the number of women entrepreneurs using ICT.

The entrepreneurs were taught how to use business tools like Microsoft Office 365, cloud computing, Microsoft SharePoint Online, Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft Lync online. They also learnt using Excel and Publisher to help in creating marketing tools for their products.

The training will also enable the entrepreneurs create websites at affordable rates.

Head of Microsoft Women Organisation Clare Mungai said the training will help women excel in ICT and build their businesses using minimum resources.

“Microsoft hopes to significantly promote the number of women using technology to manage and advance their enterprises,” said Ms Mungai.

The African Centre for Women ICT programme manager Florence Koros said the firm has also partnered with Microsoft to train young women on ICT, life skills, entrepreneurship, and internships.
