Kenyans Sunday took to Twitter to protest the arrest of blogger and former NTV reporter Yassin Juma on Saturday over posts on his social media pages concerning the Al-Shabaab attack on a Kenya Defence Forces camp in El-Adde, Somalia.
The blogger was arrested on Saturday evening and held at the Muthaiga Police Station where he was grilled by detectives on Sunday.
Posting under the hashtag #freeyassinjuma, Kenyans questioned the motive behind the arrest, with the blogger expected to be arraigned in court today to face charges of misuse of a communications gadget.
A number of bloggers have reportedly been questioned since last week following a warning by Interior secretary Joseph Nkaissery against sharing alarming pictures and information about the attack.
Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet also warned against spreading images that glorify terrorists.
