High Court judge Mathews Nduma Nderi is the first to face the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) this week, as interviews resume in the search for the Chief Justice to succeed David Maraga.

He will be followed by lawyer Fred Ngatia on Tuesday, Justice William Ouko on Wednesday and Prof Moni Wekesa on Thursday, while Ms Alice Yano will wrap up the two-week interviews on Friday.

The commission shortlisted 10 candidates hoping to succeed retired CJ Maraga, who left early this year, having attained the mandatory retirement age of 70. He served as Chief Justice for four years.

Those interviewed last week were Judge Said Juma Chitembwe, law professor Patricia Kameri-Mbote, Justice Martha Koome, Justice Marete D. K. Njagi and Senior Counsel Philip Murgor.
