Kenyan head of biotech firm Dudutech has been appointed president of a global biological products association, boosting the visibility of the country’s biocontrol industry.
Thomas Mason takes on his new role at the BioProtection Global (BPG) next month.
The association comprises eight regional biocontrol trade firms in five continents.
“Leading a global team of associations and individuals who share our vision of bringing sustainable, biological solutions to growers and other stakeholders is an honour,” said Mr Mason.BPG members elected him to head the organisation that operates in the $3 billion global biocontrol market.
Dudutech supplies eco-friendly biological pest control farming products. The company is part of the South African Bioproducts Organisation and a BPG member.
“This means the voice of Kenya’s biocontrols industry is represented on an intercontinental stage. It is huge news for the visibility of Kenya’s biocontrol industry,” he said.
The BPG also incorporated three new member associations including the Colombian Association of Bio-inputs for the Transformation of Agriculture and the Biocontrols Alliance of the Pesticide Manufacturers.
