Health technology firm Phillips Kenya will this weekend sponsor the First Lady’s Beyond Zero’s two-kilometre walking race for pregnant women.

A total of 350 women in their first and second trimesters will participate in the inaugural Philips Lumify Pregnancy walk in a campaign to curb maternal and infant deaths.

Philips Africa CEO Jasper Westerink said Thursday: “As a health technology company dedicated to creating the future of healthcare, we are driven to help solve the world’s toughest clinical challenges through meaningful innovation.”

Philips will also set up recovery tents for the soon-to-be mothers to get scanned using the Philips Lumify Portable Ultrasound. The device enables women to see high-quality images of their unborn babies on a smartphone.

The event is part of Beyond Zero half marathon, which seeks to raise funds for maternal healthcare.
