Authorities are looking into a shocking incident last Friday in which a senior PricewaterhouseCoopers Kenya (PwC) manager died after falling from his 17th-floor office in Westlands, Nairobi.

The international audit firm’s executory and forensic investigations assistant manager Stephen Mumbo died from injuries sustained from a 15-storey fall from the company’s offices at Delta Towers, Westlands.

Police said the man landed on the balcony of the second floor of the building but did not die on impact.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.

Kilimani police boss Michael Muchiri confirmed that Mr Mumbo had succumbed to his injuries.

“Investigations over the matter have started and we shall get to the bottom of the matter,” he said.

In a statement, the firm said the incident was unfortunate and a big blow to the PwC family.

“Our collective grief and sense of loss at this time is profound, but it cannot compare to what his family must be feeling. Our hearts and prayers go out to them…This is a big blow to the PwC family,” said Peter Ngahu, a regional senior partner.

Before taking up an assistant manager role at the audit firm, Mr Mumbo had served as an associate.

According to his professional profile, prior to working at PwC Kenya, he worked as a consultant at the National Smallholder Farmers’ Association of Malawi.

He held a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

The firm, which provides tax and advisory services, unveiled its current headquarters in Westlands four years ago at a launch presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The company was previously based at the Rahimtullah Tower on Upper Hill Road before relocating to Westlands.
