Over 15,000 visitors set to grace Diani Beach Festival

More than 15,000 international and local tourists are expected in Diani, Kwale County, for this year’s beach festival that runs from December 9 to 31.

The annual event, which is being held for the second consecutive year, is set to showcase an array of activities including water sports, skydiving and entertainment.

“Last year’s inaugural event was a phenomenal success, attracting over 12,000 people with over 500 international visitors from 36 countries,” said Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) chief executive Betty Radier in a statement. Unlike last year, this year’s festival features a diverse entertainment menu incorporating international, regional and local artistes. Among the artistes line up for the occasion are Sauti Sol, Nyashinski and DJ Kace. Others are DJ Adrian, H_art the Band, and Pink Mohawk.

“The festival will conclude with an incredible fireworks display dubbed Magical Kenya which will light up the skies at midnight to bring joy and celebrations as the world enters 2019,” said Ms Radier.

Diani resort was in October voted Africa’s leading beach destination of 2018 at the 25th annual World Travel Awards held in Durban, South Africa.

Diani’s white sandy beaches, strategic location and unique blend of flora and fauna saw the South Coast voted the best destination beach in Africa for four years in a row.
