New govt portal seeks to ease import and export trade, curb corruption
Wednesday November 22 2017Kenya has launched an information trade portal aimed at demystifying the export and import processes, which is aimed at curbing graft and easing costs of trade.
KenTrade Board Chairman Joseph Kibwana said launch of infotradekenya.go.ke portal was in response to traders' cry for a simple process.

Mr Kibwana said traders now have easier access to all documents needed as well as contacts of all officers involved in clearing goods.
Red tape
The portal also provides email contacts of chief executives of State agencies' involved. This is aimed at easing the red tape that make corruption to thrive.

The portal contains 170 documented processes, 850 documents as well as all 25 laws.
This is aimed at enabling traders engage directly with State agencies without necessary engaging human intermediaries.
