  • ICPAK accuses govt of witch-hunt saying procurement and accounting officers have been denied access to their previous duties.

Accountants have raised alarm over mass transfer of professionals cleared in a recent vetting ordered by President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying majority are being reassigned roles outside their profession.

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) has accused the State of a witch-hunt saying a significant number of the 400 procurement and accounting officers cleared to resume work have been denied access to their previous duties.

“These officers are being redeployed to unrelated departments which are not in line with their professional skills and expertise,” said ICPAK chief executive Edwin Makori.

“They are being treated as culprits, yet they were never found culpable of any wrong doing. The process must also navigate away from the pitfalls of personal vendetta and outright witch-hunt.”
