Fashion is finally taking off as an art form in Nairobi where tomorrow night, November 28, the Third Season of the Nairobi Fashion Week (NFW) is happening at Garden City Mall.
Entitled “Our Heritage”, this season’s NFW will showcase designers from West Africa and Southern Africa as well as from East Africa and Kenya especially.
NFW founders Solomon Sudi and Brian Kihindas of Dynamic Race believe this year’s fashion parade is going to be more dazzling and daring than ever before.
Several designers are coming all the way from Accra in Ghana including the former Miss Ghana Bertha Owusa. Other notables are the Kenya-based England-born designer Chloe Mitchell and Maryam Oliech of the M’Oliech Fashion House among others.
Designer of the year
Kenya’s award-winning fashion designer Vaishali Morjaria will also be showcasing her newest designs. Her previous collection earned her a nomination for Designer of the Year at this year’s Kenya Fashion Awards.
A specialist in silk cocktail dresses and evening gowns, Vaishali‘s outfits will be in keeping with the Week’s theme “Our Heritage” since all of her custom-made designs reflect her own African and Indian heritage.
Saturday night’s fashion show will begin at 7pm until 10:30. Tickets are Sh1,500 and VIP tickets are Sh4,000.
