IBM unit upgrades insurers’ analytical system

APA Insurance clients are set to benefit from quicker claims processing following an upgrade of its systems by American technology multinational IBM’s business partner Comztech.

The upgrade will also enable the insurer to efficiently conduct customer data analysis.

“With IBM Cognos solution, we have greater visibility into medical policies, premiums and claims experience through enhanced dashboards and reports. The dashboards provide us with insightful customer analytics that is helpful as we work on improving our product offerings,” APA Insurance chief executive Vinod Bharatan said.

IBM East Africa country general manager Nick Nesbitt said this will help improve customer service, claims settlement and ultimately improve customer loyalty as well the company’s bottom line.

APA Insurance is part of the Apollo Group, and provides access to motor, liability, agriculture, property and health insurance as well as a range of micro-insurance products.

APA’s other primary insurance business units include APA Life Insurance in Uganda, Apollo Asset Management, Gordon Court (a property company) and the Reliance Insurance company (The Apollo associate in Tanzania).
