SA tech forum to focus on financing, investment

Financiers and investors will meet with telecommunications operators, media and technology giants such as Safaricom #ticker:SCOM and MTN in South Africa in March to explore opportunities for investment and regional growth.

Cape Town-based organisers of the inaugural event TMT (telecoms, media and tech) Finance said in a statement last week the meeting will be held with the focus being on mergers and acquisitions, private equity in Africa, financing TMT, investing in mobile data and services, fintech, media and convergence, as well as mobile payments and banking.

Those expected to feature at the event include Kenya’s telcos, Econet Wireless of Zimbabwe and Vodacom as well as financing institutions such as Citi, Absa Capital, Investec Asset Management and the IFC.

“We are delighted to be bringing the (TMT) Finance franchise to Cape Town in order to meet the increasing demand for infrastructure and services in Africa’s flourishing TMT sector,” said Ben Nice, managing editor, TMT Finance.
