Property developer Tilisi has earmarked Sh750 million for infrastructure development on its 100-acre light industry land after clinching a deal with its anchor tenant Africa Logistics Properties (ALP).

Tilisi directors Ranee Nanji and Kavit Shah disclosed that ALP’s purchase of 49 acres of land for warehouse and repackaging facilities had necessitated the investment that has seen several contractors bid for the job.

“We are analysing the bids before we award the contract for the six-month job which begins next month. The property is located within a perennially cool area and has excited data centre operators seeking to establish African hubs,” said Ms Nanji.

Civil works on the property located within Limuru, in Kiambu County, will see roads paved, drainage trenches done, electricity and water connected to the facility as well as a 24-hour Internet backbone installed to enable resident companies carry out operations with ease.

The directors said the entire property had been planned and approvals granted by the National Environmental Management Authority (Nema) making it easy for investors to move in and launch operations upon completion of building.

The firm plans to spend Sh4.5 billion on development of the facility which will incorporate schools, medical and residential facilities as well as commercial centres.

ALP has also bought land at Tatu City where it intends to set up Grade A warehouses for use by local and multinational firms seeking to expand operations across East Africa.
