Construction and building companies have until Tuesday to apply for the Sh33.9 million LafargeHolcim Sustainable Building design competition for Middle East and Africa region.

The competition is sponsored by LafargeHolcim Foundation, part of the building conglomerate LarfageHolcim, which is a major shareholder of Kenya’s top cement maker Bamburi Cement. Eleven prizes will be up for grabs later in the year.

The cement maker is taking applications from Kenyan firms undertaking construction projects nearing completion.

The architectural, building and civil engineering design as well as landscape and design have to stand out.

“Projects must have reached an advanced stage of design, have a high probability of execution, and may not have started construction before July 4, 2016,” the firm said. Kenyan entries will fight for the prizes with their counterparts from the Middle East and African countries.
