Barorot resigns from Airtel Kenya

John Barorot, Airtel Kenya network director has resigned barely two months after taking up the position, in an industry undergoing stiff competition.

On Tuesday, Business Daily learned that Mr Barorot together with managing director, Mr Rene Meza had tendered in their resignation from the firm.

However, Mr Meza denied the rumours while confirming that Mr Barorot had indeed indicated that he would be resigning.

“I have not resigned, I’m with Airtel. But, Barorot will be leaving for personal reasons in the next three months,” Mr Meza said when contacted.

Before joining Airtel Kenya, Mr Barorot was a long serving chief technical officer with rival, Safaricom Ltd.

His ten-year stint at the East Africa’s largest telecom firm came to an end when the company conducted a management restructuring programme.

He opted to resign rather than undergo new vetting to fill in positions under a new management regime code-named Safaricom 2.0.
