Internet pay company to expand service in Africa

Local internet pay processor, Direct Pay Online, will roll out its service in Mozambique, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo and Ivory Coast over the next four months in line with its plans to double its current country presence.

The Nairobi-based tech firm stated that it is also eyeing Mauritius, Togo, Mali, Cabo Verde, Angola, Lesotho, Reunion, Madagascar, Morocco, Cameroon and Swaziland before the end of 2018.

The company’s aggressive expansion plan comes in the wake of Sh519 million ($5 million) second funding it received from Apis Partners, a private Equity firm earlier in the year.

“We have already identified markets where we want to start business operations next. This move is going to bring us closer to our dream of providing internet based payment options to every country in Africa,” said Direct Pay Online chief executive officer, Eran Feinstein.

The registered payments facilitator is a third-party agent and a payment gateway that supports various modes of payment including bank transfers, e-wallets, mobile money and cards through web and mobile application platforms.

The firm now has over 30,000 merchants spread across 12 countries and cutting across all sectors of the economy, with Kenya alone boasting about 3,000 merchants. The firm has an ambitious plan to recruit 200,000 merchants.
