Former UN worker fights to save Sh550m farm from fraudsters

A former employee of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) is asking the High Court to salvage her 100-acre farm valued Sh550 million whose title was forged to a secure a loan from a city bank.

And Sidian Bank, which advanced the Sh50 million loan to Zenith Pharmaceuticals is urging the court to issue orders restraining its sale or transfer to a third party pending the hearing and determination of the case on April 6.

Ms Alice Olwalo Litunya says in court papers that she was surprised and shocked to learn from auctioneers that her property had been used to obtain a bank loan without her knowledge. She alleges that the Land Registrar at Kajiado together with Zenith Pharmaceuticals directors, Mr Gregory Kivuva Muinde and Ms Janet Munyiva Nzomo conspired to forge the document and shared the ill-gotten money.

Ms Litunya says that her signature was forged and the cell phone number appearing in the loan forms is not hers.
Sidian wants the court to order investigations.
