Labour secretary Kazungu Kambi faces House censure after sacking the Registrar of Trade Unions without revoking the gazette notice.

Five MPs promised to file a censure motion that could see the minister removed from office.

“He (registrar) was appointed through a gazette notice but he has been demoted and transferred to the ministry of Industrialisation where he is serving as a legal officer. This was done through a mere letter,” said Ronald Tonui, the MP for Bomet Central.

Accompanied by MPs Sammy Koech, Agostinho Neto, Abdulahi Diriye and Kenneth Okoth, Mr Tonui said the motion to discuss the minister’s conduct has been drafted.

“It’s unfortunate the minister is acting for a particular trade union instead of being neutral,” he said, accusing the minister of acting unconstitutionally in sacking William Lang’at.
