Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang has written to his Health counterpart Susan Mochache asking for vacation from public learning institutions by Monday to allow for fumigation.

St Georges High School, Moi Girls High School (Kibera), Upper Hill High School, Dagoretti High School and Kenya High School are among institutions that were identified to isolate Covid-19 patients.

“We are requesting that these schools are vacated and fumigated by the September 28 to enable the heads of schools to prepare for the eventual reopening,” said Dr Kipsang in the letter.

Highway Girls, Pangani Girls, Buruburu Girls and Precious Blood Riruta were among schools listed as quarantine centres in Nairobi.

The directive comes days after the Teachers Service Commission ordered teachers back to school to prepare for the eventual reopening.
