The value of import orders by government agencies during the first five months of this year fell 42.9 percent compared to the amount recorded in a similar period last year, marking the steepest dip since 2019 when the imports contracted 47.5 percent.
Data published by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) shows that State imports closed the five months to May 2025 at Sh26.9 billion, down from the Sh47.1 billion recorded in a corresponding period last year.
