The Persons with Disabilities Act, enacted in 2003, came into operations in 2004 save for some sections, which came into operation on January 1, 2010.
The objective of the Act is to provide for the rights and rehabilitation of persons with disability, to achieve equalisation for persons with disability, and to establish the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD).
