Former drug trafficking suspect Joyce Akinyi has pleaded with the High Court to release her two vehicles arguing that the seizure was subjecting her and her family to hardship.

Ms Akinyi, who shot to fame while fighting over property with Nigerian Anthony Chinedu, said she is a hardworking woman and there is no evidence linking the vehicles to illegal activities.

She told Justice James Wakiaga that Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) obtained the order freezing the cars and her accounts by hiding facts from the court.

“The orders have greatly prejudiced my business, family and personal affairs thus subjecting me to excessive financial hardship, distress and inconvenience because I have to seek alternative means of transport for myself and family,” she said.

She told the court that she is unable to meet urgent obligations such as medical care, food, accommodation, salaries, bills payment of her debts among others.

Ms Akinyi added that other than Deep West Resort Bar (New Port) in Nairobi West which generates reasonable income to enable him afford the motor vehicles, she is in real estate business.
