Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) director-general Francis Wangusi has reached an out-of-court settlement with the board, which triggered a fallout after sending him on compulsory leave.

Lawyers representing both the two parties have asked the court for time to file the settlement whose finer details are still being worked out.

The parties have been in talks since April to resolve the matter out of court.

The CA board sent Mr Wangusi on a three-month compulsory leave on January 12, arguing that they needed him out of the office to allow an independent audit on the regulator’s employment processes.

He moved to court and obtained an order reinstating him to the job.

“We have negotiated and reached an agreement, we seek for more time to record the consent,” communications regulator’s lawyer Benson Ngugi told Employment and Labour Relations Court judge Hellen Wasilwa.

They are set to return to court on July 23 to record the consent.

Mr Wangusi had accused the board and the ICT ministry of defying the court order and locking him out of office, prompting the contempt suit, which the authority denied.
