Mugenda wins Ernst & Young award

Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor Olive Mugenda has won the Lifetime Achievement Award at a regional ceremony.

Prof Mugenda, who has presided over massive expansion at the university based along the Thika Highway, won the award at the eastern Africa chapter of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 Awards last week.

She was feted for her contribution to the growth of the education sector and her entrepreneurship in managing a public institution.

Jennifer Riria,  the chair/founder of Kenya Women Finance Trust (KWFT), a micro-lender targeting women, won in the Master category where a participant was supposed to be a founder of an enterprise that is at least five years old with a good recent performance.

Jyoti Murkhejee, chief executive officer Software Technologies Ltd, won an award in the Emerging category.
