Nairobi motorists queue for free fuel from Shell station

The launch of the happy hour campaign saw Nairobi motorists line up for free fuel causing a morning snarl-up on Mbagathi Way at the Shell petrol station.

Vivo Energy Kenya, the company which distributes Shell branded fuels announced that it would be running the limited free FuelSave campaign for the next six weeks.

In an interview with the Business Daily, Vivo’s Managing Director Polycarp Igathe said that the campaign was an appreciation to consumers for uptake of their FuelSave brands that were introduced into the market last month to replace Shell Diesel Extra and Shell Unleaded.

“Customers have been imploring us to find ways that they can save on fuel and because of price controls we chose to innovate with the additive which we add to the fuel before they leave the depot and enables them to go for longer distance with the same amount of fuel,” he said.

Each week the company will announce a designated shell service station where motorists can be able to fuel for free within the hour.

“We are targeting 300 motorists per petrol station who will have their vehicles fuelled for Sh1,000 for free as long as they have the fuel save bumper sticker,” he explained.

The campaign will move to designated petrol stations in Western, Rift Valley, Mount Kenya and Coast regions until September 5.
