The High Court has nullified the police recruitment and ordered for a fresh exercise in all the 289 centres where the activity had been held.

High Court Judge Isaac Lenaola Friday said that the completion of the audit indicated that the exercise was marred by many irregularities.

This follows a case filed by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) seeking to have the process overturned and started afresh after complaints had been raised by members of the public.

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) had on August cancelled the recruitment exercise held at 36 centres out of the 289, citing massive irregularity in the process.

The move affected 1,215 would-be recruits out of the 10,000 meant to join the police training college at Kiganjo.

The 36 centres included Tana Delta sub-county, Mandera East, Merti DC headquarters, Kinoru stadium, Umau grounds, Njabini, Othaya stadium, Njoro police station, Narok stadium, Kandara Stadium, Kimilili Amtala sports centre and Amagoro Primary school.
