Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has claimed that Jubilee MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto are being blackmailed by the coalition partners not to support impeachment Motion against Devolution cabinet secretary Anne Waiguru.

Mr Keter, who is fronting the impeachment plan, said MPs allied to Ruto’s URP party had been intimidated to withdraw their signatures in return for government support to the deputy president in his International Criminal Court (ICC) case.

The MP made the claims in Parliament shortly after Majority leader Aden Duale addressed the Press in the company of 30 Jubilee MPs dismissing Mr Keter’s move to impeach Ms Waiguru over the loss of Sh791 million at the National Youth Service.

Mr Keter, who was accompanied by Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ng’eno, said they will not drop their bid.

“We will fight forever until we ensure that CS Waiguru is out of office. You cannot use the ICC case to blackmail us that if you don’t withdraw the impeachment of Waiguru, then we will withdraw support for Ruto at the ICC. We will ensure she is out of office,” Keter said.

Mr Ng’eno sought to know why people panic when the name of Waiguru is mentioned.

“Is CS Waiguru more Jubilee than other ministers who were suspended over corruption allegations? CS’s Felix Koskei and Davis Chirchir have been cleared but they are not in office,” Mr Keter said.

Mr Duale termed Mr Keter as a mole for the opposition Cord coalition which is working on another motion to impeach President Uhuru Kenyatta on grounds of violation of the Constitution.
