US solar kit maker d.light has partnered with Kenyan microfinancier, Musoni, for the sale of its products through the latter’s nationwide network.

The two firms said the d.light solar home system, which costs Sh 17,000 each, will be supplied to applicants with Musoni paying upfront before recovering the loan at an agreed monthly installment and a 1.5 per cent interest.

Musoni chief executive Stanley Munyao said members living in 20 counties would see their children’s education improve.

d.light managing director for Africa Jacob Okoth said the partnership was informed by Musoni’s clientele that mainly comprises low-income earners.
