Education technology startup M-shule has been selected to participate at the Seedstars Summit in Switzeland, an opportunity that could win the company Sh51.8 million ($500,000 ) in equity investment.

M-Shule emerged top in the Kenyan edition of the annual global seed-stage startup competition and will face off with other winners from over 75 countries across the world.

Seedstars World appears to be pulling the spotlight from Silicon Valley and Western Europe as a platform connecting investors to the next generation of startup entrepreneurs.

“We are impressed by what we have seen in the continent so far and are excited to add startups from Kenya on our map,” said Anis Kallel, Associate for Africa at Seedstars World, in a statement.

BuuPass, a digital marketplace for bus and train tickets, was named first runners-up in the pool of 10 startups that participated in a dynamic pitch in Nairobi.
