Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC) has begun the hunt for a substantive head after two years of operating with an acting executive director.

The State-owned long-term financier said Friday it had contracted professional services firm Deloitte to lead the head hunt.

“To drive the focus on industrial growth and development in Kenya, ICDC is seeking to engage a highly innovative, performance and results driven individual with a high level of integrity coupled with good business acumen and excellent leadership skills particularly in strategy formulation and execution to fill the position of executive director,” said Deloitte in a notice placed in local dailies.

Kennedy Wanderi has been ICDC acting head since July 2015. An insider at the State agency, Mr Wanderi who has been working at ICDC for 20 years is also substantively the head of finance. He once served as the ICDC Eldoret branch manager.

The agency was recently hit by a wave of exits after key directors quit for politics.

They include chairman Francis Kimemia and directors Wilfred Moriasi Ombui and Julius ole Sunkuli.

Mr Kimemia, a Kibaki-era Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Civil Service, won the Nyandarua governor’s seat in the August 8 polls.
