Parliament has ordered Land secretary Jacob Kaimenyi and National Land Commission chairman Muhammad Swazuri to stop transfer of land owned by State corporations amid fears of sales ahead of elections.

The Public Investment Committee also directed Prof Kaimenyi to compile and submit to the National Assembly a status report on all parcels of land held by parastatals.

“The committee observed with a lot of concern that several State corporations do not possess the title documents for the various assets that they own, including land and buildings,” PIC said in its report on the audited financial statements of 41 State corporations tabled in Parliament.

The Adan Keynan-led PIC said Auditor-General Edward Ouko noted that ownership documents of the Posta’s 68 properties valued at Sh881,900,000 were not made available for audit review in 2007/2008 and 2008/2009.

PIC also said the Kenya Revenue Authority’s financial statements for 2013/2014 included 17 parcels of land without title deeds.
