Starehe boys Centre has developed a system that will allow virtual access to its lessons.

Starehe Boys centre, Safaricom and InterSol developed a learning management system that is set to change the way student’s access learning materials and interact with the teachers.

It’s a partnership that will see the school digitize its lessons which can be shared on the Safaricom cloud for other schools to benefit.

“All our lessons from now henceforth, will be recorded and shared on Safaricom cloud for other students in this country and world over to watch and listen to,” Said Mr. Isaac Kinyanjui a Biology teacher, who is also in charge of the ICT programme at Starehe Boys Centre.

The initiative is expected to bridge the gap between students who lack access to quality education due to lack of materials and good teachers.

“We have two aspects here; real time access to the Starehe classroom remotely and access to the pre-recorded lessons,” Said Ronald Osumba, Safaricom’s senior manager for Public sector at safaricom.

However, the real time access will take a while due to technical and financial logistics involved.
