Artcaffe, a local café restaurant and bakery chain, has opened its latest branch in Westlands, Nairobi, as it seeks to expand its presence in the city.

The new restaurant, which is the fifth branch in Nairobi, is located at The Oval, on Ring Road, opposite Nakumatt Ukay Centre in Westlands – a location that offers increased accessibility to the greater Parklands, Spring Valley, Highride and River Side areas.

“We are very excited about opening at The Oval because it allows us to reconnect with our customers in the Westlands area,” ArtCaffe’s marketing and communications manager Njeri Kariuki said.

“We’ve added some special touches to this branch that will make it stand out from the rest, giving our customers a unique Artcaffe experience.”

Coffee shops have been on an expansion and capital raising plans in the race to tap Kenya’s emerging coffee drinking culture and the demand for snacks and meals.

The increased visits to coffee shops are fuelled by Kenya’s expanding middle class with higher disposable incomes to spend on luxury items.

Increased activity in this segment of the market has also coincided with the rise in construction of new malls in Nairobi offering retailers a concentration of well-heeled shoppers.
