Charles Tanui confirmed as KPC managing director

  • Mr Charles Kiprotich Tanui has been offered a three-year contract by the government.

The government has confirmed Charles Kiprotich Tanui as the managing director of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), replacing Selest Kilinda whose term ended in May last year.

In a press statement issued Monday, KPC said Mr Tanui, who has been holding the position on an acting capacity since May, had been offered a three-year contract by the government.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Tanui was chief manager finance and strategy in charge of finance, ICT, business development and corporate planning departments.

"Mr Tanui boasts 21 years’ experience in finance and administration. Before joining KPC, he was the head of finance at KETEPA for a period of five years.

Similarly, he worked at Nairobi Java House as finance and administration manager, Kenya Airways, Sovereign Group and PFK Certified Accountants," read the statement.

He holds a BA in Economics and Sociology and an MBA in Strategic Management from Moi University, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPAK) and Certified Public Secretary (CPSK).

Mr Tanui has also attended several international trainings in Financial Management, Strategic Planning, Corporate Governance and Supply Chain Management.

The position fell vacant in May last year after Mr Kilinda was dismissed on the grounds that during his reign he hired three siblings: two sisters, one as a telephonist and the other a clerical officer while he employed a brother as a welder.
