NMG’s newest sports magazine hits stands Friday

The Nation Media Group has unveiled a new bi-weekly sports magazine aimed at serving Kenya’s growing sports enthusiasts keen to follow their respective favourite games.

The 24-page full colour English publication to be known as SportOn! hits the streets and newsstands Friday and offers unrivalled coverage of both local and international sporting news across all disciplines such as football, motorsport, athletics, volleyball, cricket and golf.

The sports magazine adds to NMG’s bouquet of publication that already features Mwanaspoti, a Swahili weekly that circulates in Kenya and Tanzania; and Enyanda, a Luganda sports publication in Uganda.

“We are keeping with the evolving market needs and requirements by our readers,” said Tom Mshindi, managing director of NMG Newspapers division during the launch of the new magazine in Nairobi Thursday.

“We want to play our part to take Kenyan sports to the next level by highlighting developments in the industry.”

NMG and SportOn! will offer 10 sports scholarships to academically gifted but needy students who have a demonstrable talent in either football, rugby, basketball, hockey or athletics to study at Kenyatta University and University of Nairobi.
