The payments of depositors of collapsed Imperial Bank commenced on Friday, the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) said in a statement.
The central bank had earlier announced that the depositors of Imperial Bank lodge claims through DTB and KCB for which they will be refunded a maximum of Sh1 million.
“Payment to a number of validated claim forms have been initiated this morning and dispatched to KCB and DTB who will contact the particular depositors to visit their respective branches in order to receive payments,” said KDIC.
The corporation said more claims will be released daily starting Friday while urging borrowers to continue servicing their loans.
