Court rejects bid to freeze Diageo sale of EABL stake

The High Court on Thursday declined to extend orders blocking the sale of British multinational Diageo’s Sh303.6 billion stake in East African Breweries Limited (EABL) to Japan’s Asahi Group.
A local firm, Bia Tosha Distributors, which is fighting the brewer in court over a terminated distributorship agreement, had sought to prolong an interim order issued last month that froze the share sale deal.
