EABL entangled in lawyer’s bribery suit

In our edition of 17 December 2021, we published a story under the front page headline “EABL entangled in lawyer’s bribery suit”.  This story was written and published without giving EABL any right of reply or the opportunity to comment.

It has since been brought to our attention that the publication in respect of East African Breweries PLC (EABL) was erroneous and inaccurate. EABL is not a party to this suit or any such related suit and is not even mentioned in the suit.

The lawsuit in question was filed by Bia Tosha Distributors (former beer distributors) against its former lawyer. The case is contested and disputed by the lawyer and is currently before the High Court awaiting hearing.

We apologise to EABL, its associates, stakeholders and our readers for any embarrassment or inconvenience the error in publishing the story may have occasioned them.
