East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has named Jane Karuku as the new managing director of Kenya Breweries Limited, replacing Joseph Muganda, who left the brewer to join Nation Media Group as group chief executive officer.

“We are delighted to have Ms Karuku, who brings a wealth of experience as an established pan-African business leader both in the corporate and development sectors,” said EABL group Managing Director Charles Ireland.

With over 20 years of experience in fast-moving consumer-goods industries, Ms Karuku served as managing director of Cadbury Schweppes East Africa, deputy chief executive and secretary-general of Telkom Kenya and most recently as AGRA president.

She holds an MBA from the National University, California, USA, and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology from the University of Nairobi. She will also remain on EABL’s board as an executive director.
