Agricultural firm Kakuzi Plc has appointed Oraro & Company Advocates partner Pamela Ager as an independent director effective April 1.

The firm said in a statement on Wednesday that Ms Ager will boost the board’s diversity, enhancing its corporate governance.

“Over the years, Kakuzi Plc has been actively working to adopt world-class corporate governance standards. As we welcome Ms Ager, I am confident that the board will greatly benefit from her wealth of experience, counsel and contribution as we seek to steer Kakuzi to greater heights,” said Kakuzi chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a.

Pamela Ager is an advocate of the High Court and serves in the Commercial & Conveyancing Department of Oraro & Company Advocates.

Ms Ager has served at the law firm for over two decades; drafting and negotiating multi-billion deals including for leading local lenders.

She has been a legal advisor in multiple rights issue sales including the first & third rights issue by KCB and the first, second and third rights issues for Diamond Trust Bank.

Ms Ager holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Waikato and a Master of Law from the University of Auckland, both in New Zealand.
