Kenya Airways (KQ) has cancelled all flights to Cameroon’s main airport for three weeks beginning March 1 after aviation authorities closed the facility for repairs.

KQ will, however, fly its four weekly flights to the central African nation to Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport (also in Cameroon), until March 21, following the closure of Douala International Airport.

The airline’s two weekly flights to Douala through the Central Africa Republic (CAR) will also terminate in Yaoundé during the period. This is the second re-routing KQ has announced this month.

On February 5 the carrier rescheduled its night flights to neighbouring Rwanda following the closure of Kigali International Airport’s runway for repairs expected to last two months.

Cameroon’s aviation authorities issued a notice notifying airlines that the airport will be closed for rehabilitation and upgrade of the aircraft parking area and landing strip.

“Passengers who had already booked to travel on the affected days will be rebooked on a new schedule and notified by the customer relations team,” KQ said in a statement.

The Kenyan carrier flies directly to Douala every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The carrier also operates flights to the city via CAR on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
