Motorola eyes deals as it launches digital devices in Kenya
Motorola Solutions today unveiled a range of mobile devices in Kenya targeting to automate government and business operations such as data collection
Motorola Solutions today unveiled a range of mobile devices in Kenya targeting to automate government and business operations such as data collection and payments processing.
The American IT firm is eyeing deals in the public sector, manufacturing, industrial and supply chain sectors where there is an increasing need to digitise operations to increase efficiency and cut costs.
Motorola Solutions has introduced rugged tablets and mobile computers which enable businesses to integrate and coordinate processes such as stock management, data entry, revenue collection and fingerprint identification.
“There is a lot of demand for automation both from enterprises and governments as they seek efficiency and reduce operation costs,” said Anthony Fulgoni, Motorola Solutions distribution manager in charge of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“It is also about user experience and tracking consumer feedback and behaviour.”
It is estimated that automation of business operations can reduce operating costs by up to 40 per cent and increase productivity; translating to improved earnings.
The new gadgets add to Motorola’s portfolio of business-targeted solutions such as smartphones, mobile point of sale (mPOS), mobile scanning and imaging solutions, barcode scanners and radio-frequency identification (RFID) readers. Motorola’s enterprise customers in Kenya include East African Breweries, Kenya Airways, Kenya Ports Authority, DHL Worldwide Express, Coca Cola and Nakumatt.
Motorola Solutions opened its regional hub in Nairobi last year and said it will use Kenya as a launchpad to penetrate the wider Eastern and Horn of Africa market.
