On the day that some legislators raised the red flag over presence of Mumias-branded contraband sugar in the market, the miller confirmed to the Business Daily that the sweetener is indeed not from its factory.
“The miller last produced white sugar in February. The sugar being sold in supermarkets in Nairobi and elsewhere and packaged in Mumias Sugar-branded packets is not from our factory,” the firm’s acting chief executive Patrick Chebosi said on Tuesday.
