The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has downplayed the threats of competition rules to the government's bailout of Kenya Airways (KQ), saying that the existing regulations provide sufficient room for the State’s intervention in the financial health of the airline.
The aviation sector regulator said that although the rules contained restrictions on anti-competition actions, they had special provisions that allowed the State to intervene in instances where the national carrier encountered ‘serious economic’ challenges.
