Three Kenyan projects are among 11 recognised as Africa’s most innovative and demand-driven construction developments.

Two Rivers Mall, Strathmore University and newly launched ALP North Distribution Centre scooped various awards at the just concluded 9th Africa Property Investment (API) Summit and Expo 2018 held in South Africa.

Two Rivers, majority owned by Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed firm Centum, took home the Best Mixed-use Development award while Strathmore’s building — which has a solar installation — won Best Green Building Development.

UK-based ALP’s North Industrial Park warehouse in Ruiru, Kiambu County was named the best logistics hub that redefines cargo handling in Africa.

Two Rivers’ one-stop shop strategy as well as integration of green technologies stood out as unique features that wooed the judges who noted shoppers had an easy access and variety from local and global brands that have opened outlets there.

Strathmore’s building awed the judges for its design that mainly utilised local material in its construction as well as making maximum use of natural light and ventilation reducing reliance on electricity.

Zambia’s luxury housing complex, Primevillas was declared the best High End Residential development.
