Automation processes at AAR Insurance has witnessed a 40 percent upsurge in new business where customers access treatment and buy drugs via the portal.

Chief operations officer Mercy Ndegwa said most users were drawn from the 25-45 bracket where men accounted for 52 percent while women took the rest.

“While the increased use of digital platforms is partly attributable to Covid-19 limiting in-person contact between clients and service providers, convenience is a driving factor for tech-savvy consumers seeking real time solutions to their insurance needs,” she said.

AAR, she said, had also partnered with M-Tiba and M-Dawa enabling their customers to manage treatment costs as well as access genuine drugs at the click of a button.

Ms Ndegwa spoke in Nairobi when she announced the launch of a wellness campaign being held in tandem with the global customer service week that is aimed at encouraging customers to adopt healthy lifestyle habits.

Ms Ndegwa said automation has helped customers access services round the clock from anywhere, thanks to availability of smartphones that can be used to log in to AAR’s App.

“Our core operating systems are now cloud-based and seamlessly supports real-time, secure online transactions without the need of human oversight or a physical data centre,” she said.

The new portal has since helped AAR to settle claims within 48 hours where clients manage their individual health expenses in realtime leading to better family health.

For home services, Ms Ndegwa they had partnered with CheckUps clinic where clients could be attended to via an audio-visual platform thereby reducing the need to visit a physical clinic.

Currently AAR insurance serves about 100,000 customers.
