The competition for sale of human resource management (HRM) software targeting high end enterprises is set to get stiffer with the entry of Sage, a UK based software firm.
Sage last Thursday announced the launch of its HR Management software and said it is betting on lower prices and customising solutions to meet customer demands to get a footing in the high end market segment.
The market is currently dominated by SAP and Oracle.
Rutendo Hwindingwi, the divisional director of Sage East & West Africa, said that the solution is available either as a standalone product or as a module that integrates with Sage X3, empowering HR managers to improve overall business performance by gaining better control over their workforce costs and creating stronger engagement with employees.
The software is aimed at mid-sized and large enterprises in the manufacturing, distribution, services and healthcare industries that are keen to integrate HR with finance, thereby improving efficiency and cost control through back office automation.
Sage HRM enables HR departments to improve administrative efficiency and compliance management.
“Our price is very bullish. Sage HRM is an enterprise HR and payroll solution that is very competitively priced when compared to the other traditional global providers,” Dr Hwindigwi told the Business Daily.
“The pricing will be determined by the number of modules a customer has opted for or the number of users,” he added.
Dr Hwindigwi said the key differentiating factor of the Sage HRM solution is the cost of ownership and the time it takes to customise the solution to fit an organisation’s demands.
The Sage HRM automates processes such as payroll, hiring, on-boarding and talent retention. It also ensures legal compliance as well as higher employee retention and engagement, with easy self-service HR services.
It also helps manage employee development by providing faster and simpler access to skills and performance information.
Sage HRM contains all settings, features, statutory calculations and parameters for payroll and global legislations compliance for the Kenyan market.
Keep costs under control
“Sage HRM, together with Sage X3, give you an integrated view of HR and financial data to help you keep your costs under control,” said Leaky Maina, branch manager for East Africa.
“Sage HRM is fully localised for Kenya and complies with all tax regulations and labour laws. The package helps organisations to stay on top of a dynamic and changing HR landscape,” he added.
The firm said Kenyan organisations are among Africa’s most enthusiastic adopters of cloud-based solutions and mobile technology With Sage HRM, human resource managers are able to accurately estimate workforce costs and performance and make data-driven personnel decisions, which translates into more informed decision making.
The software also includes flexible mobile features that enable employees to access HR services anywhere from any device, thus providing HR managers access to live key performance indicators.
“We are delighted to support them with an automated HR and payroll solution designed for today’s digital world,” the firm added.
Using the Sage HRM and Sage X3, an organisation is able to filter candidates who do not meet the minimum qualification requirement during hiring and to send out regrets letters automatically. This, the firm said, can save organisations time and huge costs associated with manual hiring.
Organisations are also able to link their website with recruiting agencies such as LinkedIn, thereby cutting on advertising costs.
Sam Osero, the executive director of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) noted that the sector must deal with the disruptive change at its front door by choosing the right technology and human resources management system for managing the entire employee lifecycle.
“Unfortunately, for most organisations, this task has proved easier said than done. This is because while much has been written about advances in HRMS technology, until recently, most of those advances took the form of disparate on-premises solutions designed to serve very specific purposes,” said Mr Osero.
The opportunity, he said, lies in solutions that help organisations to cut costs, drive innovation and increase employee engagement.
He noted that cloud-based software helps firms benefit from one interface, leverage many access points and gain at-a-glance insight across their entire workforce.
