The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife projects a 25 percent decline in local tourist visits to national parks within the first year of implementing the proposal to increase access fee to these attraction sites.

The ministry’s estimates are contained in the draft Wildlife Conservation and Management (Access and Conservation) ( Fees ) Regulations, 2025 whose implementation will increase the amount Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) charges locals and foreigners to access parks, reserves, sanctuaries and marine protected areas.
