Auditor-General Nancy Gathungu has flagged 223 public hospitals over delays in collecting revenue amounting to Sh11.4 billion during the 12 months ended June 2024, in a revelation that sets the scene for a stressed healthcare system due to constrained budgets.
The outstanding collections are also set to pile pressure on county governments, who could be forced to redirect resources from other departments to plug the financing gaps in the health institutions.
